My Craze -final

Time passed so quickly that I barely noticed that I had written my finals and expecting my results. Hari was there with me all the time, morning, noon, evening and night. Hari was a vampire fifty years old. He was converted into a vampire at the age of 25 and so he had frozen at 25 forever. He was bitten by a vampire, of whom he remembers nothing, when he had gone to Brazil on a vacation with his parents. He knew nothing of what happened to his parents after he was bitten as Vimal, his foster father had carried him all the way to India, where they lived for the past fifty years. He lived in the north, in a village near Manipur and it was Hari’s idea that they visit the southern part for a change.
He had laughed when I asked him how he could walk in the sun as his skin would glitter in the sunlight.

“It is a myth, Sara. Not all that Stephenie had written are true. She had used a bit of her imagination too.”

Hari sought my parents’ permission to marry me, to which they heeded after a long argument (in which Hari used his charm to convince them) and a discussion. They could not think of a reason to reject him. He had joined CA with me (though he had already finished of his MBA, of which he informed my parents, and a degree in engineering in BITS, a degree in archaeology, a degree in medical science and many more all these years). He came to the classes with me. He accompanied me to my guitar classes and yoga classes. He came to see me in the night when I studied in my room alone (of course, without my parents’ knowledge, as my parents were not aware that he was a vampire. They would die of fatal heart pain if I tell them what he was. So far, so good).

We have not discussed of my future and the options available as Hari had banned that topic until I am 25. I agreed.

Our life would have gone smoother and I would have been the happiest person in the world, if I had not gone to that hilly forest area somewhere in the eastern part of India that Hari and his parents visited every Sunday for hunting. I had forgotten to mention that they were vegetarians as the Cullens. They hunted only animals. No human blood.

Hari wanted me to come with him that day as he was eager to show me a water fall in the middle of the forest which would mesmerize the onlookers. I went along with him telling my parents that I was visiting my friend in Mylapore, as Hari had promised that we would return before Sun fall.

The water fall was indeed mesmerizing, stupendous that I lost myself there. Hari’s family left for hunting while I sat on a rock beside the running river. I let my legs half drenched in the water while the wind blew pleasantly.

Suddenly I felt a cold breath near my neck and a cold touch almost breaking my wrist that I turned, guessing it to be Hari. I gasped of horror when I saw an unfamiliar face, with bloody eyes staring at me. Before I could shout aloud, I saw Hari behind him in a flash his eyes wide with anger, ferocious, with his hands breaking the new male vampire’s neck. Before I could even realize that they were more of those vampires, I saw two more figures approaching Hari from the back.

Before I could yell to warn him, they were on the top of him, his both the hands hold stiffly by the new comers. The male vampire, holding my hand still, proceeded towards Hari who was made to bend by the new comers. I whimpered out of fear, not knowing what to do. I looked around hoping for Vimal and Vinaya to come. Before I could even turn my eyes back to Hari, I heard a deafening crack. Hari had broken one of the arms of the female vampire who held one of his hands few seconds back.

The male vampire left my hand now to spring upon Hari while the other two did the same. I froze out of shock and fear as I watched helplessly my beloved being attacked.
Another crack.

“HHHaaarrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiii……………………………”

My vision blurred. My body hit the floor with a loud thud.

“Sara, how many more times do you want me to yell at you? Don’t you see that it is already ten o clock in the morning?”

I opened my eyes in confusion on hearing my mom’s voice. How on earth did she come here? What happened to Hari?

What I saw ahead of me took me by surprise. There was the calendar with a puppy hanging right in front of me. My book shelf was to its right. This is my bed room. How did I come here? I was sitting on the floor as if I had rolled out from my bed. I blinked my eyes twice. I saw my mom’s feet beside me. I looked up to see her.

“Sara! What is this? Why do you keep staring at me like this? Did u dream?”

The word ‘dream’ caught my attention. Was it all a dream? I stood up, as my mom moved away grumbling. I looked around and I started laughing.

Oops! It was all a dream! So much for my craze on twilight series. Oh, Stephenie! What have you done to me?
